The inspiration for this piece is Faberge’s Rose Trellis Egg, seen opposite in all its glory.
You would not believe how difficult it is to produce perfectly shaped eggs. But Faberge is one of my true inspirations, and the time and effort it took to figure this out, is to me time spent well.
But as you can see I still have a long way to go. You can see 4 eggs here above, but what you can’t see is the other dozen or so that broke or failed and came before them.
I built little moulds to make the decorations, tried all kinds of deigns, 20 and more different eggs.
But in the end I decided on simplicity.
